Lorenzo Rosa - Biography

Lorenzo Rosa was born in Parma,
Italy, on November 17th, 1974. He received the ``Laurea'' degree
(5-year program) in Electronics Engineering from the University of Parma
on April 29th, 2003, discussing a thesis with the title ``Sviluppo di antenne
dielettriche per applicazioni DCS e UMTS'' (Development of dielectric
antennas for DCS and UMTS applications).
From January 2004 to January 2007 he was a Ph.D. student at the
Information Engineering Department (DII) of the University of Parma,
under the advisorship of
Prof. Stefano Selleri.
He received the Ph.D. degree in Information Technology from the University
of Parma on March 9th, 2007, defending a thesis with the title
``Radio-over-Fiber System Technologies'' (Tecnologie per sistemi
Radio-over-Fiber).
Since October 2007, he has been working as a Postdoctoral Fellow
at the Graduate School of Information Science and Technology of
Hokkaido University in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan, where he is currently
collaborating with Prof. Masanori Koshiba and Prof. Kunimasa Saitoh.
His current research activity includes the study and development of
finite element methods for electromagnetic simulation of
photonic-crystal fibers, fiber optic sensors and integrated
optical components.
